I am a freelance reporter and writer with more than 15 years of journalism experience, most of which was spent at one of the world’s largest and oldest news agencies, Reuters. I currently write on a broad range of general and health news for a variety of publications and organizations, with a particular focus on COVID-19. I am also a co-host of the NüVoices podcast, which highlights the expertise of women and other marginalized groups on topics related to China, its diaspora, and the broader Sinosphere.

My work has appeared in numerous international news and health publications, including CTVNews.ca, The Globe and Mail, WebMD/Medscape, the Chicago Tribune, the San Francisco Chronicle, U.S. News & World Report, and Yahoo.

My personal areas of interest include topics related to China, women’s issues, media/journalism, immigration, the environment, space exploration, technology, and pop culture (mostly television).

As a Canadian correspondent for Reuters, I wrote on a wide range of subjects, from the birth and demise of Target Canada to interviews with Kate Winslet and Ethan Hawke. My primary focus was business news and financial markets (stocks, currency, economy), with beats including Canadian retail, transportation (yes, planes, trains, and automobiles), and financial technology (fintech). I also covered the Toronto International Film Festival four times.

Prior to joining Reuters, I spent a year teaching and working at Nankai University, in Tianjin, China. I have an A.M. in Journalism from Stanford University, and an Honours B.A. from the University of Toronto.
